The National Council for Osteopathic Research (NCOR) summary of recent relevant research in Manual Therpay approaches to Paediatric Care (2013-2018) (July 2017) states
There is moderate to high quality evidence of benefit for osteopathic treatment for pre-term infants on length of hospital stay. There is moderate quality evidence of benefit of manual therapy treatment for infants with ‘colic’ for reduced crying time. Only low quality evidence exists for most other manual therapy based treatments for infants and children therefore no conclusions can be made about effectiveness. In those studies reporting adverse events no serious adverse events were reported.
